Xiaomi is undoubtedly one of the leading smartphone manufacturers on the market and we are no longer surprised by the quality of its products. This time, Xiaomi stands out in several areas with its new flagship smartphone, becoming the first smartphone to hit the market with Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 888.

Xiaomi has also made a great effort to present its equipment during 2020, and although the version presented is aimed at the Chinese market, certainly the global version will not be much different from this.

The Chinese variant of the phone features a modified design and updated specifications that provide a good overview of the types of top features with which the main Android phones will be launched next year.

The changes in the design of the Mi 11 compared to the Mi 10 are not many. Seen from the front, the screen is slightly larger at 6.81 inches compared to the 6.67 inches of the Mi 10 display. This extra space seems to have come from reducing the device’s margins (which is always welcome) , while increasing the height and keeping the sides curved and the chamber punctured in the front.

But it is in this area that we see one of the great aspects of the Mi 11, the screen has a 2K resolution, 3200 x 1440, and the refresh rate of 120 Hz in the new OLED display, two features that quickly became indispensable at the top of the range, although, of course, they are sorely missed on the latest iPhones. As expected, the Xiaomi Mi 11 will also feature a fingerprint sensor under the screen.

The back of the Mi 11 contains the most visible changes. The iPhone X-style vertical camera design of the Mi 10 is no longer present and in its place are a few layers of thin glass. The Mi 11 has three rear cameras: a main sensor of 108 megapixels, a telephoto of five megapixels and an ultra-wide of 13 megapixels. The Mi 11 also has ultra-fast 50 W wireless charging (formerly on the Mi 10 Pro) in conjunction with its 4600 mAh battery.

Moving from the battery to the rest of the internal specs, the Mi 11 is powered by the Snapdragon 888 and offers 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM. Storage starts at 128 GB or 256 GB. Like most new smartphones at this time, the Mi 11 also has Wi-Fi 6 and support for 5G, confirming that the charger is not available. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the Mi 11 will follow in the footsteps of Apple and (supposedly) Samsung by removing the charger from the box for environmental and cost-saving reasons.

The Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mi 11 is available for pre-order today and will begin shipping on January 1, still only in China. The price of the basic model of 8 GB of RAM / 128 GB of storage is ¥ 3,999.00 (just over € 500). Details on prices and features of the other versions of the Mi 11 will be known later.

Now, we have to wait for the global version and particularly the European one, to understand what the price of the smartphone will be here.
