Started Microsoft has rolled out its biggest change to the Windows taskbar in years, so that a new toolbar related to weather and news will be available in Windows 10.
The tool offers weather information directly into the Windows taskbar, and the tool also expands to include news feeds, stocks, sports, and weather information.
The content mini-feed appears only when the tool is activated, and can be fully customized with the latest sports news, headlines, and weather information.
Clicking on the story opens it in the browser, and you can also save the article for later reading and sharing if you wish.
You can tweak the choice of topics you see in your feed, as well as the posts that Windows uses for source articles.
Microsoft uses its Microsoft News network to display news and content from more than 4,500 sources.
The company uses artificial intelligence to find out the news related to you when you reject the news or like it in the feed.
And if you don’t care about this new tool, it’s easy to disable it, or you can keep weather information showing up in the taskbar.
This new tool is rolling out to those who choose to preview the April 2021 cumulative update for Windows 10.
Availability is occurring more broadly over the next few weeks with the launch of the Windows Security Update in May.
By adding news and interests to the taskbar, Microsoft says it is trying to achieve a few goals, including making it easier to find high-quality, relevant news content.
Microsoft has been testing this tool since January, and it came out early before the 21H1 and 21H2 updates planned this year.
Microsoft is in the final stages of testing the 21H1 update, which is expected to be launched next month, but this new taskbar tool will be available for Windows 10 users using version 1909 or later.
