Twitter has classified a tweet by President Trump questioning the use of mailboxes in the November election.
The platform posted a disclaimer with a tweet criticizing Democrats’ promotion of using mailboxes as an option for voters.
The president claimed, without citing evidence, that the boxes made it possible for anyone to vote multiple times, which is a security disaster for voters, and has not been cleared of Covid.
The social media platform placed a poster on the tweet stating that this tweet violated Twitter’s laws on civil and electoral integrity.
A Twitter spokesperson said in an email: “We have placed a public interest element on this tweet for violating our civic integrity policy, by making misleading health claims that may discourage people from participating in the vote.
He added, “We took action because the tweet violates our rules, but we kept the tweet on the platform because it is important for the audience to still be able to see the tweet because it is related to ongoing issues of public importance.”
The spokesperson stated that interaction with the tweet will be limited, according to the criteria contained in the attached notice, and people will be able to retweet with the comment, but they will not be able to like, reply to, or retweet it.
Democrats across the country are promoting mailboxes as a convenient and reliable option for voters who do not want to entrust their votes to the U.S. Postal Service, and Republican officials in some states have banned their use.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first time that one of the President’s tweets has been reported for posting inaccurate information about voting and elections.
On May 26, the platform categorized two tweets from the president’s account for making false statements about the mail vote, the first time the platform verified Trump’s tweets.
The tweets in question falsely claimed that the mail ballot papers would be largely fraudulent and lead to fraudulent elections.
The Twitter platform described the tweets as potentially misleading, adding that fact-checkers say: There is no evidence that mail ballots are linked to fraud.
So now the Democrats are using Mail Drop Boxes, which are a voter security disaster. Among other things, they make it possible for a person to vote multiple times. Also, who controls them, are they placed in Republican or Democrat areas? They are not Covid sanitized. A big fraud!
