Tobii’s Eye Tracker 5 brings improved immersion in PC games

Adventure games like ´Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla´ and ´Shadow of the Tomb Raider´, also fully support the device, leaving your head control on the game camera while your eyes can help aim weapons instead of having to use the mouse cursor.

Tobii is not the only head tracking hardware on the market for PC games. There are DIY options (´Do it Yourself´) to achieve a similar effect, but they require using a physical item on the head in combination with certain webcams that can see infrared. Meanwhile, Tobii also works with players who wear glasses, and is also useful in the dark.

Now this eye tracking software brings you to your games without the need for a headset. Intuitive controls can make or break most games, especially on a PC, where you may need to learn the controls on a mouse in a very complex way, and with a keyboard control system.

Tobii Eye Tracker 5 hopes to make PC games easier to control by using your head and eye movements to correlate with your character in the game.

The € 229 device (which at the time of this article is on sale in the official site) is in the most expensive price range, but takes advantage of the increased support for eye tracking in PC games, such as Star Citizen, where you can naturally look around to check your ship’s surroundings.

The feeling of immersion is very strong, in the fight with pirates, and narrowly avoiding asteroids in a much smoother way – although to be fair, hitting asteroids in that game should be quite interesting.

Even the popular online game League of Legends makes use of the eye finder in combination with the Mobalytics software to track the bad habits of the most competitive players in the game, creating patterns of data that can be used to improve.

The tracking software even lets you know during a game replay what you were looking at on the screen at any time, and letting you find out exactly where we might have missed an important scene.
