The second day of E3 2021 was filled with the joint Xbox and Bethesda conference followed by the Square Enix showcase, but many more game announcements came from the PC Gaming Show.

If you don’t have time to get the full 90 minutes back, The Verge has put together some of their intriguing and upcoming game highlights that we’ll want to put on Steam’s wish list.

RAWMEN

Basically it’s a ´Splatoon´, but with food. Rawmen is a third person shooter where, instead of weapons, we fight with food against up to two to eight players. Throw soup at your opponents, become a human meatball by jumping into gravy and rolling back home, or by tossing it into the air with donut bombs.

They Always Run

This western 2D space action game shows us playing with a three-armed mutant hunting dangerous bounty across the galaxy. From the visuals, animation, music, everything is full of style and a lot of ultra-violence while we can hack and hack our way through each level.

FAR: CHANGING TIDES

Far: Lone Sails was a minimal, lonely but powerfully meditative experience as I charted a journey through a postapocalyptic environment with nothing but us and a single piece of vehicle garbage. Then a sequel, Far: Changing Tides, arrives as a lovely surprise. It looks even more beautiful, and this time you’ll be piloting a ship in a flooded world, while still trying to keep your machine moving, recovering ship parts during your journeys.

NEXT SPACE REBELS

A space rocket construction simulator with a narrative, Next Space Rebels has the feel of a Kerbal Space Program as it tries to build a rocket engine that can actually be launched. Linked to this simulation, however, is a story conveyed through FMV footage as the fictional hacker group Next Space Rebels urges the global community to build and launch rockets and “democratize the universe”.

SOULSTICE

The name might suggest an unashamed clone of Souls, but Italian developer Reply Game Studios is also taking inspiration from action games with Japanese characters such as Devil May Cry, as well as early ’80s anime. PlatinumGames ‘Astral Current, as you will be controlling two characters simultaneously; two sisters named Briar and Lute, one possessing superhuman strength, the other a ghost with mystical powers.

LEMINIS GATE

This turn-based first person shooter allows you to take control of each member of your team, one at a time playing a 1st leg that lasts just 25 seconds. It was first announced last year, but its release is about to happen as the last trailer confirmed. Lemnis Gate is coming Aug 3 for PC as well as PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. An open beta is also coming in July so gamers can start thinking about just how this works addictive gameplay.
