Spotify, increasingly, seeks to offer personalized services, and last July announced a new feature called Blend that gives users the possibility to create lists with friends and family with songs that meet everyone’s personal taste.
The feature, which allows two people to combine their favorite songs into one shared playlist, uses the same technology that feeds other playlists from multiple people, such as family mix and Duo Mix also from Spotify.
Blend will have its official launch this week and was announced by the company that will include features that had not yet been announced when developing its beta version. Blend will have a story, which can be shared on social networks, it will have a scoring system where the level of compatibility of musical tastes is demonstrated. In addition to sharing likes with friends, Blend also allows you to see other users’ musical preferences.
When a user creates a playlist he will have a personalized cover associated with it so that it is easier to identify.
Both paid and free users will have access to Blend, reveals Spotify, however the company announced that premium plan users will have more information at their disposal.
To use Blend, the user just click on “Create Blend” and add the person he wants to share the list with. It is necessary for the other user to accept the request. Afterwards, Spotify takes care of displaying the playlist depending on their musical tastes.
For Mike Mazzola, senior engineer, Blend is “like this secret music box”. When a playlist is sent to a friend, neither party knows which songs will be part of the playlist, and that’s exactly what makes Blend so fun.”
