The SpaceX mission, Crew-1, returned safely to Earth with a baggage record. There were 168 days in space mission and NASA confirmed it as the longest space mission time aboard a manned space ship, under the flag of the United States.

The feat translates to the duration of 168 days of the Crew Dragon Capsule Resilience in orbit, before loving on the east coast, in Florida. The best brand, previously registered, took place in February 1974 and belongs to the last Skylab crew. Skylab had spent just over 84 days on a mission.

NASA also did not forget to point out that it is the first night lashing of a manned space ship with the American flag since Apollo 8, which occurred in December 1968.

However, the present achievement was not entirely unexpected, since the Crew-1 team had already outlined for the mission about six months in duration, filled with experiments, spacewalks and other activities aboard the international space station.

Recently docked, Crew-2 is expected to carry out a mission with a similar duration. Even so, the mission now completed is a significant milestone. Furthermore, it demonstrates how much space flight has evolved in half a century and that private companies are prepared to deal with some of the more demanding tasks of manned travel.
