Snapchat tests vertical passage to navigate between videos in the feed… like TikTok

Snapchat was launched in about 2012 with the aim of communicating a full range of emotions through images. Years later, in May, he has several resources created around conversations originating from visual images.

While Snapchat has always been considered one of the top social media apps with approximately 230 million daily active users worldwide, it has never witnessed a moment of meteoric rise like other apps, including Instagram and TikTok.

As the popularity of TikTok now seems to be heading towards a slump, other applications are integrating the vertical video feed. After Instagram introduced Reels last week, Snap Inc. is now seen testing the vertical passage to navigate between the videos in the Discover feed.

New feature

Traditionally, although Snapchat has been the source of inspiration for design changes in other social media apps, the vertical swipe gestures that made TikTok incredibly popular and hypnotic are now being borrowed by Snapchat.

The new implementation of Snapchat for scrolling can be seen publicly available on the Discover feed and will currently delete stories from friends. Users can also exit the full-screen view by swiping left or right, as opposed to Stories where the gesture is used to move from one story to another.

The first was first reported by the Twitter user @ artb2668 . In an image, the user shares a screenshot of the instructions for swiping, while the next tweet in the segment has a video to exemplify how swipe navigation works.

We’re always experimenting with new ways to bring engaging and engaging content to our Snapchat community for mobile devices, said Snap Inc. without revealing too many details. The company admitted that the feature is currently being tested for a small group of users.
