Samsung is not only one of the best manufacturers in the market, but has been leading the smartphone segment for several years, having launched not only top-of-the-range equipment, but in the entry-level and mid-range devices, the equipment has taken a huge qualitative leap in recent years. , namely with the arrival of the A range.
Personally, I have never been a big fan of Samsung’s mid-range equipment, but since the launch of this new nomenclature, smartphones have offered consumers a good quality of their product, at prices that are within what most people can (and want) ) purchase. Last month, Samsung launched the new Samsung Galaxy A52 and A72, already with 5G options, which although not yet available in Portugal should arrive soon.
Today we share with you our analysis of the Galaxy A52, the cheapest version of these news and “only” with 4G, which should still be the best option, since even when the 5G arrives it will still take time to be “massified” and be at more affordable prices. interesting. A model that does not hide that it is mid-range, but undoubtedly of great quality that aims to put itself at the top of this range.

The case of the Samsung Galaxy A52 is very minimalist, but the manufacturer did not follow the trend present in high-end equipment, so the USB-C cables and the wall charger are still present, and we do not have earphones or a silicone case.
Design and display
In terms of design, there is no doubt that the Galaxy A52 looks great with a live screen, plastic sides that mimic the metal very well and the rear of the equipment in an interesting color. And it is in this area that we have a bittersweet feeling, since if the back of the smartphone looks great, as soon as we touch it we realize that it is clearly plastic.
The color that we have chosen for testing is navy blue and there is no doubt that the smartphone’s appearance is excellent, but the touch of the rear is too plastic, however, the thickness between the rear and the photo sensors is well done, although obviously have a thickness greater than the rear. I preferred that the rear had a plastic equal to the sides. But we must not forget one thing: this is a mid-range smartphone, considered to be mid-low range, since the mid-high range belongs to the A72, so we realize that the quality of the materials cannot be equated with other equipment .
An excellent positive aspect is the color that initially seems too “out of the box”, but over time we start to like and appreciate the decision.
In terms of the screen, fortunately Samsung offers a Super AMOLED and there is no doubt that the quality of the screen is what the South Korean manufacturer has accustomed us to. Vivid colors, with enough brightness for outdoor use, a higher resolution than FullHD and with HDR, which improves its quality and is a smartphone that will allow good moments of viewing media.
In terms of specifications, the smartphone has the quality expected in this segment, and it will undoubtedly fulfill all the tasks it intends to do on a smartphone. The processor was delivered to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G, Octa-core (2 × 2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold and 6 × 1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver), and accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the smartphone guarantees quality performance. In graphic terms we have the Adreno 618.
During the use that we gave you for more than two weeks, we were able to use the equipment in all the ways that an ordinary user does, whether in viewing videos, in small moments of game or applications and fulfilled at all times.
Obviously when we used it more intensively, we encountered some obstacles and slowness, but we cannot expect a mid-range smartphone to do the same as a high-end smartphone.
In terms of software, Samsung offers the OneUI which, fortunately, has improved recently. One of the things that I never liked on smartphones of these Samsung ranges a few years ago was the software, which came full of blotware and made the equipment not respond with quality, but that luckily with OneUI Samsung took the right step.
The battery life has also lived up to expectations, with two days’ use in normal use.
The Samsung Galaxy A52 has a 64 MP main camera that is assisted by optical image stabilization. Great to see a top feature reach the mid-range entrance, with artificial intelligence doing a decent job of the quality of the photos captured. This is just one of the four sensors.
We also have an ultra-wide camera of 12 MP, a macro camera of 5MP and another of depth of 5MP and this set of cameras offers a very good photographic quality, even in low light situations.
Obviously, they are not excellent photos, since we are far from the quality of the Galaxy S21 or others in the Premium range, but in this price range, the Galaxy A52 is quite good and with a good photographic quality in general. The photos we captured are quite good and the macro ends up surprising and demonstrating a great evolution compared to the predecessor Galaxy A51.
Here are some examples of photos taken by the equipment:
In terms of zoom, I was also surprised by the result, as you can see below:
As for the front camera we have a 32MP sensor of good quality and even in low light environments it behaves well.
As for video, the smartphone allows you to capture videos in 1080p up to 60fps and 4K at 30 fps, with clarity and the optical stabilization it offers, here we have one of the best smartphones in this price range in capturing photos and video.
Verdict: Samsung Galaxy A52
The Samsung Galaxy A52 is the latest bet in this market range and although we are seeing a general increase in prices across all smartphone ranges, this device aims to offer one of the best quality-prices on the market.
The smartphone is not perfect, but it has a lot of quality, and there is no way to avoid the plastic feeling that the back of the smartphone has, although the set of available colors is very interesting, as is the case of the tested unit. On the other hand, the cameras are good with optical stabilization and the camera is superb, at 90Hz and without a doubt the front area makes us forget the rear.
The smartphone is now available in Portugal and until April 11, if you buy the smartphone you will also receive free white Galaxy Buds +, all for € 379.90.
