Razer announces the new categorical esports headphones, the Razer BlackShark V2. With the new Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm speakers, HyperClear Cardioid Microphone with USB sound card, advanced passive noise cancellation and debuting the new THX Spatial Audio Game Profiles feature, the BlackShark V2 is the new pinnacle in wired and multiplatform headphones – developed and tested in conjunction with some of the best esports athletes in the world.
In esports, the clarity of sound and communication are everything. The ability to hear the smallest audio track and communicate clearly with teammates is the difference between savoring the glory of victory or being a mere footnote in a tournament. For the Razer BlackShark V2, Razer has developed a completely new 50 mm loudspeaker that, together with a new custom microphone and advanced passive noise canceling earcups, creates the most powerful triple threat for sports: clear sound, clear and minimal communication external noise – the most lethal audio trinity.
“In working with professional players, we identified the main areas where esports headsets needed to improve – positional audio, clarity of communication and noise cancellation,” said Alvin Cheung, Senior Vice President, Peripherals Business Unit, Razer . “By addressing these three areas and implementing the BlackShark V2 solutions, we have created some great headphones. By adding the new THX Game Profiles, we made the formidable unbeatable. ”
Tuned for excellence in esports
The Razer BlackShark V2 are equipped with brand new 50 mm patented speakers, the Razer TriForce Titanium. Using titanium-coated diaphragms, in an exclusive and cutting-edge design, the TriForce Titanium speakers separate the audio frequencies and allow you to individually adjust the high, mid and low ranges, resulting in clearer treble, richer midrange and more powerful bass.
TriForce speakers are complemented by THX Spatial Audio – an advanced positional audio solution for accurate accuracy and realistic, immersive gaming sound, compatible with 5.1, 7.1 and 7.1 stereo headphones. THX’s advanced space algorithms and world-class modeling technology, combined with unprecedented user configuration options, provide a 360-degree soundscape tuned to each player’s ear. With THX Spatial Audio it is easy to locate enemies, avoid bullets hissing and detect nearby threats, giving gamers and sports athletes the well-known ‘unfair advantage’ of Razer.
Commanding plays without interference
Clear communication in the heat of battle is the key to victory and for the BlackShark V2, Razer has developed a HyperClear cardioid microphone with a USB sound card. The HyperClear cardioid microphone has been tuned for a more focused voice capture range, eliminating background and side noise for clarity of speech. The open shape of this removable microphone offers the least possible interference for the most accurate voice capture and reproduction.
The additional USB sound card provides greater control over the microphone for even more advanced adjustments. Through features such as Mic Boost, Voice Gate, Volume Normalization, Microphone Equalizer and Ambient Noise Reduction, players can customize the voice output to minimize ambient noise that interferes with crucial team communications.
Eliminate noise, increase comfort
In tournament matches, whether at home, on LAN or on the main stage of the grand finals, outside noise is an undesirable distraction. Small tracks received via audio from other players and the game environment can be lost when real-life noise interferes with the headphones. The advanced properties of passive noise cancellation in the BlackShark V2 are due to the oval design of the earcups that cover the entire ear, with foam cushions and lined with synthetic leather. This creates the perfect isolation between the BlackShark V2 and the user’s head, thus minimizing the entry of sounds from outside.
Using soft, breathable memory foam, earcups also minimize heat build-up and perspiration, for maximum comfort even in long, intense gaming sessions. The soft, well-padded headband supported by a lightweight stainless steel frame ensures a flexible and extremely durable design, with minimal head pressure and only 262g.
Tested and proven by the pros
Team Razer, which is the esports division of Razer, works with many of the best teams and players in the world to develop new high-performance, esports-focused peripherals, striving to push performance limits and provide a competitive advantage . Since the beginning of the development of the BlackShark V2, Team Razer has been involved with several esports athletes testing the headphones, and used their feedback to help improve the design and specifications.
“We tested the Razer BlackShark V2 prototype and quickly became convinced of its gaming advantages,” said Tal “Fly” Aizik, from the Evil Geniuses Team. “When using the headphones for many training sessions, they were comfortable and the sound quality in the game and the microphone are excellent – they allowed me to remain very focused during the games.”
The Razer BlackShark V2 are just one of many products developed using feedback from esports athletes during the creation process. By listening to players and implementing their comments on new products, Razer has established itself as the market leader in professional quality gaming peripherals.
THX game profiles for competitive advantage
Debuting on August 6, Razer BlackShark V2 are THX Game Profiles that further deepen the gaming experience. With custom, game-specific profiles certified by the developers, THX Game Profiles allow players to enjoy games the way they were actually designed, providing a realistic and immersive experience.
THX Game Profiles feature two distinct modes: the Environmental THX Mode for realistic sound and the most immersive experience and the Competitive THX Mode, with more emphasis on spatial perception and directional tips for faster and more accurate location of enemies.
THX Game Profiles currently support 16 of the most popular competitive multiplayer titles, including Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valorant, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and more – with more titles to be included over the next few months.
Collaborating directly with the developers, Razer used THX Game Profiles to allow developers of each game to create ambient specifications as well as personalized environments, from echoed corridors to large areas abroad. Adding to this the customization for users available through THX Spatial Audio technology itself and players can adjust the sound of the game until they reach perfection.
With the 3.5mm audio connection, the Razer BlackShark V2 is compatible with any device with 3.5mm input, including PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and many mobile devices. The additional USB sound card is only compatible with Windows 10 PCs.
