We will now be able to adjust the shooting mode settings, which vary according to each weapon. For example, instead of pressing R2 halfway to load a ‘Negatron Collider’, then fully pressing the trigger to fire, instead you will be able to hold down the button to repeatedly load shots. There are also other options for holding and switching the weapon, aiming and swinging.

Other accessibility options include automatic gliding when in the air, flight assistance, screen effects, heads-up display, controller vibrations, adaptive triggers and audio.

Sony has now revealed several accessibility options for its next big PS5 exclusive. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Sony’s next big PlayStation 5 exclusive, is just a few weeks away from its launch.

This week, the company offered an in-depth study of the game’s accessibility options. Among them are the game’s speed features. You can now slow the action down to 70 percent, 50 percent or 30 percent of full speed.

You can assign a shortcut to the game speed on the DualSense D-pad, which will allow you to delay the game whenever you need to and return to normal speed by pressing the button again in a given cutscene that has already started.

“These options were added for cognitive and motor accessibility in response to assessments in which players felt overwhelmed in combat or had difficulty with fast entry into crossing situations,” Michele Zorrilla, senior development user experience researcher at Insomniac Games, wrote now.

By default, the directional buttons are configured for quick selection of a weapon, but we can also configure other shortcuts, including alternate contrast, launch the weapon and perform a movement that would otherwise require several button presses.

Insomniac developed its accessibility work on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and now for his last game. Options include detailed contrast, scenarios that make your character, your ally, enemies, interactive objects and dangers stand out from the background.

The ‘shader’ options will help players to identify all of this more easily. After The Last of Us Part II and Insomniac’s Spider-Man games offered extensive accessibility options, it’s great to see Sony continue to push themselves on that front. The company will launch Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart on June 11th.
