It was in 2003 that Steam first appeared on Windows, the online video game store that would become the biggest ever on PC platforms, registering over 120 million online users a year and selling millions of digital copies of titles , as well as offering its players new ways to play and socialize in the community through the exchange market and much more.
The brand that was largely responsible for the success of the online store was Valve, its creator, which produced and launched in this store titles that became franchises that revolutionized the gaming world forever such as Half-Life, Couter Strike, Team Fortress , Left 4 Dead, Portal, Garry’s Mode and more.
In order to revolutionize the gaming world as it has done in the past, and confirming some rumors that pointed to the creation of a gaming console and, more recently, a portable console competing with Nintendo Switch, Steam now unveils its new portable PC Seam Deck that is based on the same concept as the Nintendo Switch, allowing anyone to take their Steam library anywhere.
Introducing Steam Deck: powerful, portable PC gaming starting at $399. Designed by Valve, powered by Steam. Shipping December 2021.

Although the Steam Deck may look like it won’t be as powerful as it looks familiar to the Nintendo Switch, this new console is, as I said, a portable pc and, for that reason, not only will it run any title without any problems, it can also run Windows 10 (and the future Windows 11) and be a normal PC, and can even be connected to any monitor via a USB-C cable or from the Steam Dock, sold separately, and function as if it were a tower . In addition to this, the Steam Deck comes with the SteamOS 3.0 operating system.
To be that powerful, the Steam Deck has an AMD APU Zen 2 2 4c/8t processor, 2.4-3.5GHz (up to 448 GFlops FP32) and an 8 RDNA 2 CUs GPU, 1.0-1.6GHz (up to 1.6 TFlops FP32), also from AMD. In terms of RAM memory, this powerful computer comes equipped with 16 GB LPDDR5, the same RAM memory present in PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Regarding its screen, this is a 7-inch 1280 x 800 pixel HD LCD display, the same present in the new Nintendo Switch Oled Model, and it also has 400 nits and a refresh rate of 60Hz, as expected for a device of the genus. Furthermore, this screen is touch sensitive and has an ambient light sensor.
As for its controllers, the Steam Deck has the ABXY buttons, as on Xbox, a D-pad, the L and R analog trigger buttons, the L and R bumpers, the View and Menu buttons, and four assignable gauntlet buttons. In addition to these, this portable console also has two full-size analogs with capacitive touch and 2 square trackpads with tactile feedback that can be configured.
In terms of connectivity, this computer comes equipped with Bluetooth 5.0 and 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi so that no player has any lag issues. It also has a 45W PD3.0 USB Type-C power supply and a 40Whr battery, which allows for between two to eight hours of gameplay, depending on it and its settings.
In terms of audio, the Steam Deck comes with stereo channels with built-in DSP for an immersive listening experience and also has two built-in microphones for the best possible voice pickup, plus a 3.5mm headphone jack, for those who want doesn’t like or doesn’t have wireless headphones.
Storage will depend on the console version you choose, there are three options, but all three versions both have a high-speed SSD, with the speed being higher the greater the storage on the SSD inside, and they also have a slot to a high-speed microSD card to have game loading and installation times reduced to mere seconds.
The three storage options and the price of each is 64 GB for €419, this version has a box to store the console included; 256 GB for €549, with this version also including Steam’s exclusive community box and rewards; and the latest version that will cost 679€ and will have 512 GB which includes a premium anti-glare glass screen, a premium console storage box, Steam’s exclusive community rewards, and even a unique virtual keyboard theme.
