OPPO, the world’s leading technology brand, today announced at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai (MWCS) the beginning of a new era in mobile charging technology, with the launch of its fast charging project: the Flash Initiative, based on VOOC fast loading.
Several innovations of the brand, such as charging devices, 5G connectivity and smart technologies were presented in its space at MWCS (at stand number N2-E40).
Flash initiative, the new fast-loading project
THE Flash Initiative was born from OPPO’s commitment to make the lives of its consumers as easy as possible, expanding fast charging to cars, public spaces and a wide range of technologies.
THE FAW-Volkswagen, a Ankerea NXP Semiconductors, partner companies in the Flash Initiative, are reference companies in their respective areas: the automotive industry, portable charging and chip manufacturing. Each partner will work with patented technical designs created by OPPO, which has made more than 2950 patent applications for fast loading worldwide, with more than 1400 already granted.
In his speech today at MWCS, Adler Feng, Chief Intellectual Property Director at OPPO, said: “The Flash Initiative reflects OPPO’s belief in human-centered technologies that make a difference in people’s daily lives. Will Wang, Responsible for Intelligent Solutions and IoT, APAC, from NXP Semiconductors said: “We are working to create a smarter world and faster loading is a vital part of this effort. If we want to improve people’s lives through technology, then we have to make their everyday experiences easier and more convenient. And that’s exactly what OPPO’s VOOC fast-charging technology does. ”
The technological certification laboratory CTTL (China Telecommunication Technology Laboratory) will test and certify any partner products created with VOOC fast loading technology. As one of the largest technological certification laboratories in China, CTTL has led the establishment of safety standards for fast charging technology and has already granted OPPO a five star rating for its VOOC Fast Charging technology.
Lead the charge
OPPO’s VOOC technology, launched in 2014, and the more than 30 smartphone models that include this technology, have to date offered the fast-charging experience to more than 175 million users worldwide.
OPPO’s latest fast charging products are already making fast charging more convenient. The small 50W Mini SuperVOOC charger can charge smartphones, tablets and even laptops and is only 10.05 mm thick and 82.2 mm long, so you can easily store it in your pocket.
Meantime, the 65W AirVOOC wireless charger you can fully charge a 4000mAh battery from a phone in just 30 minutes, while the 125W fast charger can do the same in just 20 minutes. All products use low voltage charging, with a double cell structure and several charging pumps and temperature sensors to automatically regulate voltage and dissipate heat.
The latest partners in fast loading
The joint goal of the most recent OPPO partners is to provide access to fast charging in more scenarios and to provide consumers with technology that makes their lives simpler.
- THE Anker, one of the world’s largest consumer electronics brands, creates innovative products, from charging bases, vacuum cleaners and headphones. By working with OPPO, Anker will contribute to bringing fast shipment to millions of people.
- THE FAW-Volkswagen, the joint venture between the FAW Group and the Volkswagen Group, will use OPPO’s single-charge Intellectual Property to integrate fast charging into Volkswagen cars made in China, offering driving power to car drivers and passengers.
- The chip maker NXP Semiconductors offers smart and connected solutions in several areas, from smart cities to the industrial, automotive, mobile and home sectors. Taking advantage of a lasting relationship, NXP will implement several OPPO patents to support VOOC fast charging in its printed circuit board assembly, which means that fast charging can be more easily integrated into more automotive applications, public spaces and industrial environments.
Also at MWCS, Henry Tang, Vice President of the OPPO Research Institute, was invited to speak about 5G innovation at the 5G Innovation and Investment Summit:
“At OPPO, we believe that 5G will change the way we all live. With coverage and capacity expansion, new applications will flourish in numerous areas, offering consumers unexpected experiences. We are already involved in the development of a global 5G standard and we will continue to explore new 5G devices and implementations, from TV to CPE and RA. ”
New series of innovative technologies
OPPO’s MWCS booth displays a wide range of innovative technologies in four areas, including fast charging.
The Smart Home of the Future demonstrates how OPPO’s Internet of Things (IOT) products can make our homes smarter and more connected than ever. The unique 5G CPE Omni, which integrates Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System, occupies the central place in this universe, being able to convert 5G signals into stable and high-speed Wi-Fi connections through two antenna systems patented.
The 5G antenna system O-Reserve uses the Sub-6GHz 5G spectrum, automatically selecting four of its eight antennas simultaneously to obtain the best possible signal. At the same time, technology O-Motion 360 ° is able to fully rotate its antennas, automatically ensuring that the CPE is positioned for optimal reception of the 5G millimeter wave signal. OPPO, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Ericsson recently completed successful tests of 5G millimeter wave technology with Omni, achieving downlink speeds of 4.06 Gbps.
Visitors to the OPPO stand will be able to learn more about Omni antenna systems and other 5G technologies. They can also familiarize themselves with shopping and Augmented Reality (AR) games in this area.
The area of Futuristic technologies allows visitors to MWCS to get closer to the phone concept OPPO X 2021, which features an extensible screen with a minimum size of 6.7 inches and a maximum of 7.4 inches. Here you will also be able to witness the speed and ease of charging of OPPO’s new Wireless Air Charging technology, capable of offering up to 7.5 W of charging power.
This latest innovation uses magnetic resonance imaging to remove some of the hassles of other wireless charging technologies, coming into operation as soon as the devices are within 10 cm of the charging mat.
The OPPO Reno5 Series is also on display in a smartphone area, including the OPPO Reno5 Pro + 5G Artist Limited Edition. Created in collaboration with the graphic artist Joshua Vides, this device changes the color of its back panel from silver to blue with a simple touch, thanks to its electrochromatic glass.
