OnePlus took years but it finally got into the smartwatch game AcrossNewly announced OnePlus Watch, starting at $ 159.
The new watch comes with a circular design that resembles a regular wristwatch, instead of the rectangular shape that Apple Watch and its imitators are famous for, such as the Oppo Watch.
The company’s stainless steel case, measuring 46mm, features two buttons on the side (one of them features the OnePlus logo).
It is assumed that the smart watch will be available in two colors, silver and black, while the OLED screen measures 1.39 inches and has a resolution of 326 pixels per inch with sapphire glass.
The watch also contains a version of OnePlus’ Warp Charge charging system, and the company promises a week of battery life after charging for 20 minutes.
The company said: The smart watch should last for up to two weeks on a single charge, or up to one week for the most used users.
In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Watch features 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, and built-in speakers.
Wireless, bluetooth and GPS are all included, but there is no cellular option.
Fitness is also a big part of the OnePlus Watch, as it offers more than 110 workout modes, has built-in GPS, and features IP68 water and dust resistance.
In addition, OnePlus Watch features internal storage for music, which allows users to store up to 500 songs to listen to on their Bluetooth headphones while running, even if they don’t have their phones with them.
However, OnePlus does not use Wear OS for the OnePlus Watch, and as the company announced before the event, it uses a RTOS-style software setup, with a companion app that allows it to connect to your phone to receive calls and notifications.
This means that things like: app selection and custom watch faces are pretty much limited to whatever OnePlus can build internally, so there are no third-party apps, at least for now.
And there are dozens of wallpaper options to choose from with additional customization options to add more style options, so users have some flexibility.
It can also be connected to a OnePlus TV (when available), where it can be used as a remote control, and the watch can automatically turn off the TV after it detects you’ve fallen asleep.
The company also announced a limited edition cobalt alloy, which it says is two times stronger than stainless steel.
OnePlus states that the Cobalt Limited Edition will be available soon, but has not provided a price yet.
