Last year, OnePlus surprised us with the OnePlus Concept One smartphone, which provided an electronic glass panel that darkened the camera’s lenses when not in use. Now, the Chinese manufacturer is once again innovative and announces a great novelty: a rear panel that changes color.
Color change
The OnePlus 8T has a rear window that reacts to electrical signals, resembling a lava lamp. When you receive a notification (for example a message or a call), the glass in a dark blue tone turns into a silver tone, and this change is only possible, since it contains metal oxide. In addition, the idea of changing the physical color of the phone may also show the battery life. In this way, the OnePlus 8T has enormous potential to become a futuristic smartphone.
The material of this smartphone is also sensitive to mmWave 5G signals which works in a manner identical to the Soli processor of the Google Pixel smartphone. It transmits and receives electromagnetic waves and, combined with smartphone processing, can help locate objects. In fact, it can even be used for a person to monitor their breathing (check the time a person is inhaling and exhaling).
Launch of this smartphone
For now, the OnePlus 8T is still a prototype and it is not known when it will be available on the market. Judging by the complexity of the material, the Chinese manufacturer will probably still need a long period of testing.
In any case, the concept is unique and innovative and it is a pity that there is no such model at the events like CES 2021. Below, see the demonstration of OnePlus 8T through Pete Lau’s Twitter account:
The OnePlus 8T is an amazing overall smartphone, but we’re always exploring cool new technologies — not necessarily to bring to market, but just to see what else is possible. Check out our latest experiment: the Concept 8T. pic.twitter.com/jmJMVcyBMT

Until then, it probably won’t be long before we see the long-awaited launch of the OnePlus 9 series!
