Nothing launched its first product, the ear (1), a wireless headset. What stands out and has never been done and seen before in this type of product is a transparent design, trying to revolutionize a market that is, therefore, very competitive. Nothing’s first TWS was designed by the team at Teenage Engineering, which the company announced in February as a founding partner.
Carl Pei, CEO and co-founder of Nothing, said: “Nothing ear (1) is a breath of fresh air in a cluttered and uncaring market, paving the way for a connected digital world to come. It combines advanced technology, precise engineering and innovative design at an unbelievable price.”, since we already know that the product will be on sale for €99 and is available for Portugal, as you can already select on the official website. nothing.tech.
At an event held today, the company announced the details, with the product expected to be available from July 31st with limited units, and on August 17th it will be available with more units. Some of the standout features of the Nothing ear(1) earphones include Active Noise Canceling and up to 34 hours of playback.
Nothing ear(1): transparent design and features
If there’s anything that stands out in the Nothing ear(1) ear, then it has to be the design. The transparent design is unique and you can notice different components like microphones, magnets and circuit board on the headphones stem. Moving away from current design elements such as recording R to the right and L to the left on the stem or near the earpiece, the ear (1) comes with a red-colored sign to the right.
The headphones weigh 4.7 grams and feature a sporty design, an ergonomic fit and three customizable silicone tips. To provide sound, the ear (1) has 11.6 mm drivers and supports Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity.
Nothing claims Active Noise Canceling (ANC) on the ear (1) uses three high-definition microphones to bring music, movies and podcasts into sharp focus. In addition, users can choose between Light mode for moderate noise cancellation and Maximum mode for noisier environments. The ear (1) also features Transparency mode, the same as the AirPods Pro. For better calling, the Nothing ear (1) comes with Clear Voice technology, which the company claims is specially designed to reduce distracting background noise , like the wind.
The company claims that its headsets support instant pairing with compatible Android devices. That means users can simply open the box, click the pair button to pair with the device and listen to music.
In terms of battery, the company claims that the ear (1) can provide up to 5.7 hours of music playback on a single charge, while with the charging box, this extends to 34 hours. The ear (1) also supports fast charging, where users get up to 8 hours of power in 10 minutes of charging. In addition, Nothing ear (1) supports wireless charging and is compatible with all Qi chargers.
Nothing ear (1) earphones can be connected to a smartphone using the ear (1) app, which is available on Google Play as well as the App Store. The mobile app offers additional features such as Find My Earbud, EQ, Active Noise Canceling and Gesture Control Customization. The ear (1) also comes with sweat and water splash resistance.
Although it is not yet indicated when the ear (1) will be available for Portugal, we hope that it will be on the same date that we have already mentioned, July 31st, and we are waiting for some additional information to be sure.
