Microsoft releases a new update: Windows 10 21H1

Since yesterday, Microsoft has started the process of launching its latest Windows 10 update, known as Windows 10 21H1, for ordinary users. In the past few months, 21H1 has been in testing with Windows Insiders.

There are only a few new features in Windows 10 21H1, including support for multiple Windows Hello-enabled cameras; Improvements in Windows Defender Application Guard and improvements in Windows Instrumentation gestures through Group Policy. The new Chromium-based Edge browser is also available as part of today’s 21H1 version.

Like Windows 10 2004 and 20H2, Windows 10 21H1 is a minor feature update. For users already running 2004 or 20H2, Windows 10 21H1 will be installed quickly – and hopefully, without any problems.

Starting today, Windows 10 21H1 will be available to anyone looking for the latest updates. This means that Windows users who have certain equipment with Windows 10 2004 or later can proactively search for it by going to Settings> Update and security> Windows Update and checking for updates.

Once the update is shown, users can select to download and install. For anyone who has a version prior to 2004, the 21H1 update will look like a normal Windows 10 update.

As Microsoft has been doing lately with Windows 10 updates, it will be limiting the delivery of the 21H1 update, delivering it first to devices where it is likely to have fewer problems. As has been happening recently, Microsoft will likely have “safeguard holds”, prepared to prevent the update from being installed on devices where there are known problems and incompatibilities, giving Microsoft more time to fix them.

On the client side of the house, Microsoft is already working on Windows 10 21H2, as far as we know. This version may receive a very important interface update, codenamed “Sun Valley”. Windows 10 21H2 should include features and fixes developed during the first half of 2021, however there is still not much information on this, as there is not yet a Beta version of the version.
