Microsoft probably plans to launch the Surface Duo soon, as it is displaying the Android dual screen device on Twitter. In addition, he appeared on the certification listings of the Federal Communication Commission and the Bluetooth SIG.

These types of listings generally precede launches in a matter of weeks or days. Microsoft first introduced the Surface Duo at a press event in New York last October.

According to sources, the Surface Duo will be launched this year with a Snapdragon 855, 6 GB of RAM and storage options of up to 256 GB. It will feature a single 11MP camera sensor above the right screen that will be used for front and rear facing photos and videos.

The displays themselves are AMOLED panels with a pixel density of 401. The Surface Duo will be supplied with a 3460 mAh battery, which can support the Surface Duo for a day, but don’t expect a resistance champion.

It will feature fast charging via USB-C, but I heard that current test units do not have wireless or NFC charging capabilities. It also does not support 5G, reaching a maximum of 4G LTE speeds.

Launch and delays

Although it was originally released on the 2020 holiday, the most recent rumors point to a July release date. Perhaps the new listings indicate that Microsoft will launch the Duo in the next few days.

Surface chief Panos Panay recently teased the device on Twitter, and Microsoft’s Frank Shaw also posted a photo of the Duo in July. Remember that Microsoft has delayed its Windows 10X operating system and dual-screen plans to 2021 and beyond.

But some think that Microsoft planned to focus on the Surface Duo in Build 2020. The pandemic changed those plans, but it now expects to “ship the device” in September.

The phone leak Evan Blass, which frequently leaks marketing materials accurately, also suggested that the Surface Duo should appear on the AT&T network in the U.S. soon.
