It is no longer possible to disguise the giant wing of the Porsche GT3 RS

No amount of camouflage or coating can hide this huge wing. We didn’t get to see much of the car – now a video shows only from behind – but previous spy photos provided a complete view of Porsche’s performance. The test vehicles we’ve seen so far have used plastic liners over important segments, hiding the style underneath.

The author of the article says that he expects the new GT3 RS to use aggressive front and rear bumpers, a hood with air extractors and protective vents, which will complement the enormous wing from which the company cannot hide from prying eyes.

Active aerodynamics has become quite common in street cars, especially performance-oriented ones. This technology gives the car the ability to change its shape when needed, providing maximum downforce.

So it should come as no surprise that one of Porsche’s supermachines boasts the technology, according to a new video that now appears to show the active rear wing in action on the next 911 GT3 RS.

The video shows the coupe navigating the highway, but the important part happens just before the video ends, when the rear wing changes shape. The video is not of the best quality, but the wing change is clearly visible. However, it is difficult to determine what exactly it is doing.

It appears to be similar to the DRS (drag reduction system) found in Formula 1 cars, but we would need to look more closely to be sure of its full function, as it appears to be acting as an air brake in this case.

The car’s engine should be Porsche’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine. It should produce more than 502 horsepower (374 kilowatts) and 346 pound-feet (469 Newton-meters) of torque, which the mill produces in the non-RS variant. The PDK will be the only gearbox available.

We do not know when Porsche will unveil the GT3 RS, although a revelation like in the beginning of 2022 would not be a surprise. We can still wait a bit for the full summary.
