Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup maintained very strong consumer demand from January through March, according to Ofconsequences Fiscal year for the second quarter of the 2021 fiscal year ending on March 27, 2021.
The company posted record revenues for the March quarter of $ 89.6 billion, up 54 percent year-on-year.
IPhone received just under $ 48 billion, which is a 66 percent jump from last year.
Mac and iPad sales also increased, up 70 percent and 78 percent, respectively, due in part to continued work and distance education.
And that success may slow as some regions of the world return to a sense of normality, so most eyes are on the iPhone.
It has been reported that the iPhone 12 mini is not selling the way Apple had hoped, but other models are clearly a hit with consumers.
“This family of devices is popular with former customers and new customers alike,” said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.
These second-quarter earnings come on the heels of a historic quarter in December for Apple that saw the company’s revenue exceed $ 100 billion for the first time in its history.
The focus has now shifted to how Apple performed in the second half of the year, and whether the iPhones 12, the first Apple devices to offer support for 5G networks, launched the massive upgrade cycle that some analysts thought was possible.
Computers reported net profits of $ 9.1 billion, which was another record for Apple.
IPad sales swelled from $ 4.4 billion in the last quarter to $ 7.8 billion this time, and while momentum has slowed somewhat for the wearable, home and accessories division, it is still able to generate more revenue from the company’s tablets.
Meanwhile, the service business – which includes many subscription services – generated $ 16.9 billion in revenue.
And Apple just last week held its first event of 2021 and introduced new products, including the purple iPhone 12, a redesigned iMac supported by the M1 chip, updated iPad Pro computers, a faster Apple TV 4K, and AirTag tracking elements.
Despite Apple’s successes, investors and consumers continue to wait for the company’s next major device.
Rumors have long indicated that headphones for virtual and immersive reality may represent the future for Apple, and there are many reports about an electric car manufactured by the company.
