Microsoft is reviewing the first major overhaul of the Windows operating system since 2015.
The popularity of the system helped make Microsoft a household name and for years dominated personal computers compared to devices that use Apple and Google systems.
The upgraded operating system may also appeal to individuals, who have helped drive PC sales sharply over the past year due to work-from-home practices adopted during the coronavirus pandemic.
Analysts expect the successor to Windows 10 will be called Windows 11 and have updates for business users that could make it easier to use with dual-screen setups.
It may also contain updates for PC gamers, which is another important customer base for Microsoft, including the Xbox app.
Microsoft may also provide more details at its online launch event Thursday about its plans for a revamped Windows Store.

She was an outspoken critic of the Apple App Store, which charges 30% commissions. It requires developers to use Apple’s in-app payments systems.

Windows 11 event:
Microsoft has been teasing the next generation of Windows for months. The leaked version of Windows 11 suggests that we may see a number of changes during today’s Microsoft event.
The company is expected to focus on new user interface improvements for the Windows operating system. Including a new Start menu, rounded corners, and more simplification to use Windows 11.
The event should last approximately 45 minutes. This gives Microsoft ample time to talk about important aspects of Windows 11. And that’s before a deep dive for developers later.
The event starts at 6 pm KSA time. After the event, a special developer session is also available to watch online at 10pm KSA.
