HarmonyOS 2.0 is official and wants to be a strong competitor to iOS and Android

Huawei officially launched its HarmonyOS operating system today, not hiding that the goal is to be distributed among the most diverse possible equipment, ranging from smartphones, watches, IoT equipment and even cars. Therefore, a unique operating system is so comprehensive that it will be, something that Google and Apple do not offer.

HarmonyOS was released in 2019 after the US blacklisted Huawei, preventing access to Google’s Android operating system. That measure, along with other sanctions restricting Huawei’s access to essential semiconductors, brought its smartphone business to a standstill just months after it became the number one company in the world.

Huawei has been developing HarmonyOS since 2016 and ​​counts as an operating system that can work on many Internet-connected devices, from smartphones to wearables. The company claims that it is easy for developers to create applications that can run on different products, which is one of the great advantages of Huawei’s operating system and that it wants to make a serious competition to Huawei.

In 2019, Huawei put HarmonyOS on a TV made by Honor, a brand that no longer belongs to it, and went on its way.

Huawei announces that many of the company’s older phones will be able to upgrade to HarmonyOS, with updates starting now for some devices in China: Huawei Mate 40, Mate 30, P40, MAte X2 and MatePad Pro, during which time month Huawei expects to update another 100 devices for the new operating system.

To be launched already with the new operating system, three devices were presented: the Huawei Watch 3, Huawei Watch 3 Pro and the Huawei tablets MatePad 11 and MatePad Pro 12.6.
