As time progresses, new developments and technologies emerge, demanding more of what previously existed. It seems that the time has come for some previous consoles to put an excellent game aside. In fact, the game will put the consoles aside.
Rockstar announced that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles will no longer work with the company’s most successful online game, Grand Theft Auto Online, on December 16, 2021. So, if you’re still playing on any of these consoles, you better start thinking about upgrading your consoles.
Around 2005 and 2006, the original Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were unveiled, and in 2010, both consoles were revamped with a “slim” version that gave updates and fixes for both platforms. Three years later, GTA V and GTA Online were released on both consoles, starting the saga of one of the most played video games in current history.
After being enjoyed by millions of people, the game moved to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before it was most recently announced for the new Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 still this.
As we are now two generations of more advanced consoles, it’s time to say goodbye to where we started the GTA Online experience. “The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including tracking site stats via Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially close on December 16, 2021,” says the Rockstar blog post.
This change comes because the company is “moving forward with updates and support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto Online.” Additionally, Rockstar is “working on this fall’s releases of new enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S”.
With this announcement, Rockstar declares that it would like “to thank the GTA Online community for their continued support and we look forward to seeing players continue their journey in Los Santos with us on new platforms.” You can always look for other alternatives to GTA V Online or alternatives to GTA V for Android and iOS.
