Soon, Google Photos will have a new cool trick: if you take two similar images with your phone’s camera, the app will be able to create an animated and moving scene that combines them.

He does this using artificial intelligence to synthesize the movement between the two photos. Google says the feature achieves this by using AI to generate additional frames between the two images, which creates the appearance of movement.

Google’s Shimrit Ben-Yair made it sound like something that parents will love, as now their multiple attempts at the same time will allow for this added benefit.

If you took several photos in succession, for example, Google ‌Photos‌ can now bring the scene to life by turning it into a moving image. Think of the result as a kind of synthesized version of an Apple Live Photo.

The new feature is called “Cinematic Moments” and will work on both Android and iOS, said Ben-Yair. And it should not be confused with the cinematographic photos Google’s existing machines, which use machine learning to add an animated depth effect to images.

The Moments Cinematographic option is expected to arrive on the Android and iOS versions of the Google ‌Photos aplicativo app soon.
