Glickenhaus 007s: Discover the dream hypercar

No, our eyes do not deceive us, and it is not a special approval. Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus seeks to build 24 road versions of its SCG 007 prototype, a racing car that will compete in the 2021 World Endurance Championship. Even though these aspirations are insane, and on the positive side, let’s take a look at how this dream can become reality.

It would be unacceptable and negligent, as not to mention that the 2021 SCG racing campaign looks very promising. Even though the car is a completely new beast, veteran drivers like Romain Dumas, Pipo Derani and Oliver Pla will support the team. Semantics aside, Glickenhaus intends to build a road and legal version of the race car, which customers will be able to drive to a track, complete an entire day, and then drive back home.

Fortunately, Glickenhaus has now filled in the blanks in a recent Facebook post on what to expect with 007S. While the Motor1 team was surprised by the aforementioned power of 1,400 horsepower (1,044 kilowatts) and functional air conditioning, the estimated time of a lap of less than 6 minutes on the Nurburgring Nordschleife – on road tires – was simply beaten.

In addition to the enormous task of obtaining the correct packaging with the mentioned performance levels, this is a great achievement.

While the Porsche 919 EVO Nurburgring record of 5 minutes 19.546 seconds is essentially untouchable, it is still a big request for the SCG 007S to break the 6 minute barrier. Of course, the latter will be beaten during a real race – with 1,400 hp (1,044 kW) compared to 1,144 hp (853 kW) – but it is difficult to say that it will be compared in the aerodynamic department.

In any case, the Motor1 team says they are still extremely excited to see how glickenhaus will perform both on the road and on the race track. As soon as there is enough interest, 24 examples of 007S will be built, each with a price of 2.3 million dollars (1.96 million euros at the current exchange rate).
