Ford announced that the first deliveries of the new Ford Mustang Mach 1 – the sportiest Mustang ever available in Europe – are already underway.
Improving the impressive performance of the best-selling sports model in the world with a 5.0 V8 460 hp engine with specific tunings, and now having equally specific transmission specifications, the Mustang Mach 1 also introduces exclusive aerodynamics and new component cooling systems high performance for greater agility and more consistent circuit performance.
The Mustang Mach 1 provides 0 acceleration–100 km / h in 4.4 seconds and has a 22% increase in downforce (downforce) compared to the Mustang GT, obtaining better cornering behavior and more stability at high speed. Marking the debut of the iconic Mach 1 version in Europe, this limited edition model also offers high performance car enthusiasts the style, specifications and details derived from the competition.
“There is a reason why the Mustang is the best-selling sports model in the world, but Mach 1 will take the Mustang to a higher level in the eyes of high-performance car enthusiasts on this side of the Atlantic”, says Matthias Tonn, Chief Engineer of the Mustang Mach 1 program for Europe. “On the road or on the track, this is the most effective Mustang ever to arrive in Europe and is the one that most honors the legendary Mach 1 emblem”.
Specifically tuned for performance that gives the Mustang the best driving experience ever, the Ford V8 engine, built entirely in aluminum, from the Mustang Mach 1 combines an Open Air Induction System and high performance intake manifolds, 87 mm accelerator, low pressure injection and high pressure direct injection, to develop 460 hp of power at 7,250 rpm and 529 Nm of torque at 4,900 rpm.
High performance driving is supported by an auxiliary engine oil cooler and a new engine oil filter adapter, ensuring optimized oil flow and consistent on-track behavior.
Mustang Mach 1 customers can opt for robust, high-precision transmissions designed to comfortably manage gear shifts in regimes. Available for the first time in Europe in a production Mustang, the TREMEC six-speed manual transmission features a robust double-disc clutch and a short stroke control lever. The most aggressive gearboxes, both in acceleration and reduction, are smoother and more accurate and easier to perform with double-pass technology. Also available, the sophisticated Ford 10-speed automatic transmission features an improved torque converter and specific calibration.
Both transmissions benefit from a dedicated oil cooler, rear axle cooling system and self-locking differential, allowing effective and consistent torque transmission to the road. The 10-speed automatic transmission also has a second air-oil heat exchanger (radiator) that increases the cooling capacity by 75%.
Aerodynamic improvements include new double top, bottom and side grills to reinforce cooling, a new front aerodynamic diffuser, bottom protection, spoiler simple rear and rear diffuser for optimization of downforce and aerodynamic balance. The elongated lower protection also uses dedicated openings to direct fresh air to cool the brakes, which, in turn, have a more powerful brake servo that provides more consistent braking. The six-piston Brembo brake calipers withstand braking distances of 100-0 km / h below 32 meters.
In combination with aerodynamics developed to provide the Mustang with excellent directional stability, never before offered by the model in Europe, the electric power steering, the MagneRide adjustable suspension electronically controlled, and the stiffer front stabilizer springs and bars have a specific tuning for the Mustang Mach 1.
The suspension architecture is configured to mitigate “sinking”, “diving” and lifting the body under conditions of strong acceleration and braking, and includes suspension substructures and connection components proven in the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT500 versions. The 19-inch alloy wheels with five-spoke, version-specific, are 0.5 inches wider at the front and rear, and are equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires that provide exceptional levels of grip on the road and on the track.
Further enhancing the high-performance driving experience, the Mustang Mach 1 offers selectable Driving Modes from the Mustang range, including Sport and Track modes, with Track Apps that allow drivers to use the accelerometer, acceleration timer and Launch features Control – visualized on the 12-inch fully digital instrument panel, integrated in the standard equipment.

The competition-inspired style has been a hallmark of the iconic Mustang Mach 1 since the launch of the first edition in 1969. The latest generation’s style is strongly influenced by aerodynamic features, including the front grilles, the spoiler the front, the rear diffuser and the spoiler rear, with characteristic finishes in black, high or low gloss, and Magnetic. The exclusive 19-inch wheels have a low-gloss Dark Tarnish finish.
The look is reinforced by eight bold color combinations and side strips for the body and hood, including Gray Fighter Jet with Black Satin / Orange Reflector strips – which includes orange brake calipers – and Yellow Grabber with Black Satin / White strips; in turn, the Mach 1 logos appear on the boot lid and guard the front mudguards, regardless of the color option. The Mustang Mach 1 system, developed specifically for this purpose, features four 4.5-inch chrome tips, lending an unmistakable look and unique sound.
Inside, the leather sports seats feature Metal Gray seams. Inside, all Mustang Mach 1 units include a dashboard emblem with the Mach 1 logo and production number. Standard comfort and convenience technologies include heated and cooled front seats, SYNC 3 connectivity, a sound system premium B&O with 12 speakers, and a FordPass Connect modem.
