Samsung has revealed that its new high-end Exynos processor will be made official on January 12, two days before the launch of the Galaxy S21 series, which is expected to take place on the 14th of the same month.

And judging by the teaser posted by the Samsung Exynos Twitter account, which ends with the words “Exynos is back”, it looks like the Exynos 2100 will really be a forceful return to the Korean giant’s processor division, and this is a big reason to be excited, since its predecessor was well below expectations when compared to the competition.

Based on what we know so far, this return to form will simply be the result of Samsung giving up its ambitions to have a custom processor core for its internal SoC. The Exynos 2100 will use ARM cores – there will be a single high performance core, three performance cores and four energy efficiency cores, along with the Mali-G78 GPU, finishing the pack.

Although a leak emerged that Samsung could use the old 7 nm manufacturing process for the Exynos 2100, the company is more likely to employ its new 5 nm process, the same as that used for the Exynos 1080 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, which is what will make sense.

Thinking about the Snapdragon 888, it will be interesting to see how the Exynos 2100 performs in comparison, since last year, the Exynos 990 that supports the Glaaxy S20 and the Galaxy Note 20 was slightly below expectations, namely when the performance of the same equipment , but with a different processor, between the Exynos 990 and the Snapdragon 865.

As has happened, we will certainly take the time off when launching the Galaxy S21, which will also come in two versions, one with the Exynos 2100 and the other with the Snapdragon 888, Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor. It should be noted that the versions vary by country and, as has been the case, in Portugal and Brazil, we should use versions with Exynos. We hope that this year Samsung will surprise us with a more powerful version.
