Dubbed “Games Breathtaking”, the trailer shows just a few of the titles coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 in the coming months. Forspoken and Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022, according to footage. However, while Ghostwire: Tokyo and Gran Turismo 7 are also due to be officially released in 2022, no launch window has been provided for either of them. You can see me in the lower trailer.
While Sony may not have made a big reveal at gamescom this year, they have developed a new trailer to showcase some of their upcoming titles. As usual for Sony, they included launch windows for releases.
However, while most have gotten dates that can be as vague as 2022, launch windows are missing for Ghostwire: Tokyo and Gran Turismo 7, perhaps suggesting that those games may have been delayed again.
The trailer also includes recently released titles such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. Deathloop is the first of the upcoming games to be released on September 14th. FIFA 22 comes next on October 1st, while Grand Theft Auto V arrives on PS5 on November 11th. Horizon Forbidden West’s release date was revealed just a few days ago during the Opening Night Live Show: it will hit February 18, 2022.
As recently as last July, Tango Gameworks postponed Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022 so they could avoid a crush of results and protect the team’s health. Meanwhile, Gran Turismo 7 had already been pushed back to 2022 due to slower production while the team took care of game development during coronavirus restrictions.
In previous trailers, when the launch windows are not displayed, it usually means that the game is no longer achieving its goals. Of course there wasn’t exactly an official comment made by Sony or any of the ‘developers’, meaning we’ll have to wait and see if the games will appear next year.
