O Binance NFT, the marketplace of NFTs and “digital collectibles” from Binance – the world’s largest provider of blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure – is launched globally today, with the works of a hundred creators from around the world.
To celebrate the launch of this new marketplace, Binance will pay tribute to pioneering artists Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali, whose innovative approaches to art mirror the spirit of today’s NFT landscape. NFT technology revolutionized the art world, making the concept of digital property possible for the first time. And, therefore, Binance NFT will kick off a collection that brings together two of the most famous artists of all time.
As part of the first “Premium Event” auction, the “Genesis” collection will include two iconic works of art: Three Self-Portraits and Divine Comedy: rebeget. Helen Hai, head of Binance NFT, says, “Binance shares similar values to ‘Genesis’, revolutionizing the ‘fintech’ space with blockchain technology and encryption, leading the way as blockchain pioneer leader in the same way as the auction ‘ Genesis’ will do the same for the NFT industry.”
The auction for the ‘Genesis’ collection started today, June 24th, at 3 am (from Lisbon), and will take place over a period of five days.
Three Self-Portraits by Andy Warhol
As the leader of the Pop Art movement, Andy Warhol introduced the art world to screen printing, a printing technique that allows for the easy reproduction of originals. Three Self-Portraits is an iconic example of this technique, with striking interpretations by the artist in vivid colors.
Although these three self-portraits consist of the same base image, each interpretation (entitled Nirvana, Vitality, and Harmony) exhibits unique texture and color qualities, giving each self-portrait its own individuality.
In the same way that Warhol forever changed the perception of value when it comes to reproducible works of art, NFT technology forever changed the way we value digital art. With Three Self-Portraits, Binance pays tribute to Warhol’s pioneering work. This series of recreations will be available starting today with an exclusive edition of 100 NFTs. The winner of the auction will also receive the piece of physical art, sent by Apenft.
Divine Comedy: rebeget by Salvador Dali
Divine Comedy: rebeget it was originally commissioned in 1965 by the Italian government to mark the 700th anniversary of the birth of poet Dante Alighieri. Dante’s The Divine Comedy is one of the most recognizable literary works of all time, and Dali’s watercolor illustrations are a tribute to the Divine Comedy.
The year 2021 marks the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death, and to commemorate the date, Binance NFT will offer a digitally recreated version of the Divine Comedy, called Divine Comedy: rebeget, like an NFT.
This NFT includes blockchain elements including the bitcoin symbol, the Binance logo and the signature of the company’s CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao (which can only be seen at a high magnification) on the artwork itself – a blink eyeing the impact Binance NFT hopes to have on the world of NFTs.
The auction for the ‘Genesis’ collection, which includes Divine Comedy: rebeget and Three Self-Portraits, started this morning, at 3 am, and will last for five days.
The creators of “Premium Event” NFTs also include many other names, namely from the worlds of music and sport. Newly announced creators include “Big Time,” the long-awaited multiplayer action RPG that allows players to team up with friends to collect and unlock NFTs; musician Timmy Trumpet; and Rivaldo Ferreira, legendary Brazilian football player and one of the greatest footballers of all time.
They will be joined by other confirmed artists and creators: musicians Lewis Capaldi, Lil Yachty and Kyle; athletes Michael Owen, Alphonso Davies and José María “Guti’” Gutiérrez Hernández; painters Frank Holliday and Trevor Jones; the eStarPro Sports team; and the digital collectibles “Nyammy Treats: The Nyan Sum Cards” created by Mighty Jaxx (available exclusively through NFKings Productions).
“Mystery Boxes” of NFTs
Starting today, Binance NFT will have the first in a series of “mystery boxes”, a fun way for users to unlock special NFTs.
These “mystery boxes” are guaranteed to contain one NFT each, with content ranging from ultra-rare limited edition NFTs to more common digital collectibles. The first collection of mystery boxes will be ‘tokidoki’, a Japanese word that translates to “sometimes” [“sometimes”], and which is an internationally recognized brand based on the vision of Italian artist Simone Legno.
Since its inception in 2005, tokidoki has gained cult status for its “larger-than-life” characters and established itself as a highly coveted lifestyle brand – recently, 110,000 digital todoki were sold in minutes.
The first “Mystery Box” collection contains 16 collectible ‘tokidoki’ characters, including 3 Binance characters that can only be obtained through this “Mystery Box”, which is made available on Binance NFT through NFKings Productions.
