Bang & Olufsen today announces the launch of Beoplay Portal, its first headphones wireless for gamers. With a sophisticated aesthetic, materials premium and immersive sound quality, Beoplay Portal marks the arrival of Bang & Olufsen in the gaming world. Developed for Xbox

Beoplay Portal was developed as part of the program Designed for Xbox so they have a perfect connection to Xbox Series X consoles | S and Xbox One via the Xbox Wireless protocol.

Beoplay Portal is also compatible with PC and mobile devices via Bluetooth 5.1, aptX Adaptive and USB-C, allowing players to have their immersive audio experience on the go.

Superior Sound

Adjusted by experienced Bang & Olufsen acoustics, Beoplay Portal offers a powerful audio experience, featuring a high level of detail. Two custom 40 mm drivers with neodymium magnets ensure accurate and faithful acoustic reproduction. And with Dolby Atmos for headphones, Beoplay Portal also offer sound surround virtual, adding layers of depth and texture to games, movies and music.

The sound performance of Beoplay Portal is even more sophisticated, featuring a new generation of Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation technology. Using a combination of ANC feed-forward and ANC feed-back, Beoplay Portal allows users to fully immerse themselves in an immersive experience, enjoying every detail, even in noisy environments. And the addition of the option Own Voice allows them to hear their own voices while unwanted sounds are simultaneously canceled.

Timeless design and unprecedented technology

Beoplay Portal was created to combine design, comfort and durability. Designed by Jakob Wagner in partnership with the team of design from Bang & Olufsen, Beoplay Portal are available in three colors: Black Anthracite, Gray Mist and Navy. The headphones feature touch-sensitive aluminum discs with an impressive gradient effect, produced using a patented anodizing technique developed by Bang & Olufsen.

The ear protectors that support the head are made of viscoelastic foam wrapped in sheepskin. There is a subtle protrusion on each pillow, which adapts to the shape of the user’s head, increasing comfort and eliminating sound output. The inner headband has displacement padding designed to relieve pressure at the top of the head.

This padding is covered with high quality bamboo fiber fabric, chosen for its durability and breathability. The headphones weigh only 282 grams, making them among the lightest in the category of headphones wireless. They are ideal for hours of continuous use.

Beoplay Portal also features a brand new articulated arm, eliminating the need for the traditional one found in most gaming headsets. Using Directional Beamforming technology, a series of microphones helps to isolate and amplify the user’s voice while eliminating background noise, allowing for conversations without interference – whether to announce goals to teammates or chat on the phone with friends.

Updated user interface and B&O app

Beoplay Portal features a sophisticated user interface, consisting of perfectly adjusted touch controls, built into the side of the headphones. With several simple gestures, users can increase and decrease the volume, adjust the ANC and the transparency mode and control their music and phone calls. The same functions are also available in the Bang & Olufsen app

(available for iOS and Android). With the launch of Beoplay Portal, the Bang & Olufsen app has been updated to include the game mode, which features a new set of features designed specifically for players, including microphone optimization and game / conversation balance. When connected to the Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One or PC using a dongle or USB-C, Game Mode is automatically activated. When connected via Bluetooth, the features adapt to the needs of traditional headphones and the app’s user interface adjusts automatically.

The Beoplay Portal has a 1,200 mAh lithium-ion battery, offering up to 24 hours of continuous playback using Bluetooth and Active Noise Canceling; or 12 hours of playing time using Xbox Wireless, Bluetooth and Active Noise Canceling.

Pricing and availability

Beoplay Portal (€ 499) will be available on Black Anthracite in the United States and Canada from March 30 exclusively at Bang & Olufsen, Best Buy and the Microsoft Store for a limited time.

Beoplay Portal will be available globally at Bang & Olufsen, online and in select stores from April 29th. O dongle wireless is sold separately
