Apple will add more security between the browser and Google on iOS 14.5

For several years now, Apple has been using Google’s safe browsing services to protect Safari users from phishing and any attempted scam to its users through Google’s Safe Browsing. However, Apple has shown that it intends to increase the security and protection of its users in recent times and in iOS 14.5 it will add more security.

According to MacRumors, in addition to Google’s Safe Browsing, user data also passed through Apple’s own servers to increase security, so that Google receives the least possible information from users. This Google service allows you to warn you whenever you access a link that is not trusted and / or is associated with phishing.

If until now Apple used exclusively the Google API for this, now in addition to Google’s database, Apple will also use its own database. Despite this increase in barriers between Apple and Google, so that the latter does not know the exact site it tried to visit, it still obtains information such as its IP address. By proxying the service through its servers, Apple can “limit the risk of information leaks”, which is an increase in security.

This novelty is just one of many updates that iOS 14.5 will bring to devices with the Apple mobile operating system, since Apple is betting heavily on increasing the security of its users and, mainly, on the information that users share with the applications they install.

One of the hottest in recent times is Apple’s App Tracking Transparency feature, which will require applications to ask for your permission before tracking it on other apps and websites. Companies like Facebook have spoken out against the change and even went so far as to prepare their own notifications before the update was widely available.
