Apple might not let Spotify’s HiFi plan go unanswered, he mentioned report New from music site Hits Daily Double that it is working on HiFi for its music service, in addition to releasing third-generation AirPods alongside it.
The rumors contrast with other reports that AirPods 3 won’t be coming until fall.
While the report itself doesn’t come with much evidence, he did Location 9to5Mac found code in iOS 14.6 indicating upcoming HiFi support to future Apple Music.
The report says: Apple is expected to announce support for HiFi via Apple Music in the coming weeks, and also indicates that it costs $ 9.99 per month like a regular subscription, which means that the company will not charge additional fees for the HiFi plan.
And 9to5Mac confirmed that the HiFi plan may already be coming to Apple Music, as the first beta version of iOS 14.6, released last week to developers, includes new code added to the music app that specifically mentions Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio and Lossless.
Although Apple Music supports Apple’s HiFi ALAC audio codec, the Music app has never supported Dolby Atmos or Dolby Audio.
What makes it even more interesting is that these references were included in the beta version of iOS 14.6 only, as the site checked internal files for iOS 14.5 and iOS 14.6 beta 2, but the code is not present.
This indicates that the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Audio signals are related to something new that Apple is trying to hide from us.
HiFi songs have lower sound pressure, which means they sound better with more detail.
For example, Tidal has long been known for offering the HiFi plan, while Spotify recently announced that it is also working on a version with access to HiFi songs.
However, Apple Music currently only offers songs that use the AAC codec at a transfer rate of 256 Kbps.
IOS 14.6 should also enable the paid subscriptions to the Podcasts app, which were announced at the company’s special event in April.
The company says this new Podcasts feature will be available to users in May, so it may be possible to launch iOS 14.6 to the public later this month, confirming the Apple Music HiFi report.
