The new system, which was built on the basis of the Darwin operating system, supported many of the current Mac OS applications, but developers were asked to adjust the applications, so Apple released it over a trial period of 12 months before it went on sale.
At launch, the system was priced at $ 129, and it was launched at a time when Apple was still charging Mac users for upgrades.
Mac updates have become less expensive over the years, and Apple stopped charging them in 2013.
And the rise of Mac OS X was far from perfect, and it had some major stability issues that Apple needed to solve.
Apple followed it up with Mac OS X 10.1, called Puma, just six months later, and has since continued to build on the original 2001 release.
It became Mac OS X in 2012 OS X with the release of Mountain Lion, which introduced a minimalist design.
Mountain Lion accompanied iOS 7, which is known to be one of the biggest design fixes for the iPhone OS.
