She said The head of Apple’s retail division told Reuters in an interview: The company is working to expand a new form of its stores, in an attempt to ensure that users have access to new iPhone 12 phones in light of the ongoing Corona pandemic.
The new Express stores come as rates of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) COVID-19 rise across the United States and Europe.
The new shape includes a wall built in front of the flagship store with plexiglass-shielded sales tables, and a few shelves for accessories, such as phone cases and AirPods. Customers set an appointment to receive online requests, or interact with Apple Customer Service technicians.
For Apple – which has 271 retail stores in the US – the new look could help overcome the holiday season’s sales challenges.
And now Apple is preparing to launch its best-selling product for the current year with the outbreak of the epidemic again in major markets, such as: the United States, and Europe. The company has taken a cautious approach to reopening its retail stores, using a team of medical experts to make their own calls on a county-by-county basis, and at times having to close stores again when local laws do not allow stores to operate.
Apple’s new Express stores offer another option in areas where rising rates of (Covid-19) may force them to consider reducing service to curb the spread of infection.
Deirdre O’Brien, senior vice president of Retail and People at Apple, said: This option does not work seamlessly with Apple stores in malls, or busy shopping areas in the city center where the “barrier” may be far from the storefront.
O’Brien told Reuters: Apple currently has about 20 such stores in the United States and Europe and plans to expand to 50 across the two regions by the end of this month.
“It’s a faster way for us to serve customers,” said O’Brien. She added, “It allows us to maintain all appropriate social distancing and to maintain all our health protocols within our stores.”
