In the course of the normal iPhone launch process, Apple will already be obtaining certifications for certain components of the new iPhone 12. Thus, new batteries and chargers for Apple’s next generation iPhone models have appeared on several certification sites. According to what was found, several battery models, as well as chargers, could be launched.
This news could deny, or at least leave as less likely, the information that Apple could fail to include charger in the box of the new iPhone.
New batteries and chargers
Among the news about the possibility of Apple stop packing chargers with this year's iPhone models, three new iPhone battery models appeared on platforms UL Demko, Safety Korea and 3C certification.
In addition to these new batteries, two new iPhone chargers were also found on the 3C platform.
As shown, the information about the charger includes a new variant of the standard 5 W charger. In addition, there is a new 20W charger - the latter with model number A2305. Now, if you own an iPhone (or are simply an Apple fan), you should probably be aware that the maximum charging speed supported by iPhones reaches 18W.
Thus, Apple seems ready to increase this number to at least 20W with its models of the new iPhone when launching the news in September 2020.
IPhone 12 series battery details
According to what has been found, there are three new batteries for this year's iPhone models with model numbers A2471, A2431 and A2466. From the published images, it was possible to deduce that the A2471 is a 2227mAh battery, while the A2431 is a 2775 mAh battery and that the A2466 - the largest of the three - has a nominal capacity of 3687mAh.
Thanks to “leaks” and previous rumors, it was realized that Apple could launch up to four new iPhone models this year. This includes iPhone 12 with a 5.4 inch screen, iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro with 6.1 inch screens and iPhone 12 Pro Max with 6.7 inch screen.
Below is the combination that may appear in a few weeks. You will notice that iPhone 12 Max and iPhone 12 Pro can share the same battery (A2431).
- Apple iPhone 12 (5.4 inch) - A2471 - 2227mAh
- Apple iPhone 12 Max (6.1 inch) - A2431 - 2775mAh
- Apple iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inch) - A2431 - 2775mAh
- Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inch) - A2466 - 3687mAh
So, looking at the information, we noticed that the smaller models of the iPhone 12 had a slight reduction in battery capacity. For example, last year's iPhone 11 had a 3110mAh battery as opposed to the 2227 mAh battery for the iPhone 12. The iPhone 11 Pro came with a 3190mAh battery as opposed to the 2775mAh battery in the iPhone 12 Pro.
The only 'update' here is for the new 3687mAh battery in the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is bigger than the 3500mAh battery in last year's iPhone 11 Pro Max.
New iPhone series may receive new 20W charger
As already tacked up, in addition to the new battery models, information about two new chargers for this year's iPhone models was also discovered. While one is a standard 5 W charger with model number A1443, the other is a new 20 W charger with model number A2244.
So, these clues can tell us several things. The first is that Apple will have new batteries different from previous models. It will also have new chargers and eventually new charging technology. Finally, it may just be a rumor, the information that this year's iPhone case will not have a charger.
