Amazon Prime Day launches June 21

announced Amazon officially announces Amazon Prime Day, the company’s annual shopping event, that takes place Monday, June 21 through June 22.

The company has historically held its annual shopping event in mid-July. But it postponed last year’s event until October due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In its latest earnings report, Amazon previously confirmed that this year’s Prime Day event will take place in the second quarter.

And just like previous years, you can expect to get discounts on wireless earbuds, TVs of all sizes and types, video games, and more.

And the Prime Day event has become one of the best opportunities to get deals.

Amazon says this year’s Prime Day event features millions of deals from top brands and over a million deals from small and medium businesses.

The e-commerce giant said it is investing more than $100 million to help small businesses during the Prime Day event.

Prime members get $10 credit to use during a Prime Day event if they spend $10 on select small businesses across Amazon from June 7 through June 20.

During the event, the company uses the Amazon Live broadcast platform, through which brands highlight several products.

Amazon Prime Day:

The milestone represented a major revenue stream for the company, which generated net sales of $108.5 billion in the first quarter.

The event features exclusive discounts on Amazon devices, apparel, electronics, and a wide range of other consumer goods.

Outside sellers alone earned more than $3.5 billion during the two-day event last year. However, the e-commerce giant has not disclosed the total sales figures.

Amazon used the global shopping event as a way to retain Prime subscribers, who now number more than 200 million. In addition to boosting sales during a period that is often considered a slow period for retailers.

This year’s Prime Day is also taking place during Amazon’s change period.

For example, Andy Gacy, the current CEO of the AWS unit, is set to become the CEO of Amazon on July 5th.

In addition, the company recently announced its plan to buy MGM for $8.45 billion, an acquisition that will further enhance the company’s entertainment properties. And potentially help develop its own Amazon Prime Video library.
