If you received a virtual reality gaming headset this holiday season, congratulations! Whether you have the newly launched Oculus Quest 2, one of the latest units in the now discontinued Oculus Rift S, or another headset like the PlayStation VR, there are a ton of video games for you to explore with its new head-mounted screen. Here are ten games that the author of the article personally liked and thinks are worth your time and money:
HALF-LIFE: ALYX
Yes, it is not Half-Life 3. But the fact that Half-Life: Alyx exists is a blessing and is a great addition to the Half-Life franchise. Five years after the events of Half-Life 2, you control Alyx, who is in charge of carrying a super weapon that belongs to an alien empire.
VOID RACER: EXTREME
This is one of those sci-fi racing games that gives the same adrenaline rush that we get from games like Wipeout or Sprint Vector and combines it with an aesthetic like the one seen in the movie Tron. If you’re looking for a fast-paced racing game and love sci-fi vibes, this is the game for you.
DREAMS
Of course, there are no real PS5 games released yet, but PlayStation VR still has a solid library of PS4 titles you can check out, including those from Media Molecule’s. It is not a video game in the traditional sense – it is more about creating games. Dreams strongly encourages players to embrace their creative side, and you’d be surprised at the type of user-generated content you can create.
STAR WARS: SQUADRONS
When I was little, the author of the article says that she always wanted to fly an X-WING. He thought it was so cool to be flying through space and blowing up Tie Fighters. from the sky. When EA announced that Star Wars: Squadrons would have vr support, it knew it could finally fulfill its childhood dream. It’s a very difficult game, and you don’t need a VR headset to play. But it is also a very rewarding game that totally immersed when virtual reality headsets appeared.
REZ INFINITE
Rez Infinite is a techno shooter, powered by sublime and ´trippy´ graphics, being truly a breathtaking experience. It is released on virtually all virtual reality gaming headsets, making it very affordable to play.
BEAT SABER
Although Beat Saber was originally released in 2019, it is still one of the best vr games out there, and is one of those that all VR headset owners need to experience. A rhythmic game where you use lightsaber-like drumsticks to cut musical beats? You can’t beat that. The game has also expanded to a number of content packs, which include original songs and some licensed songs from bands like Linkin Park and BTS.
VR SHOOT AROUND
Among the many things the author of the article says he lost this year because of the pandemic is sport. That is, the ability to go to a basketball court and throw baskets. After a few questions out there, you heard about a really decent vr simulation title called VR Shoot Around, and it didn’t disappoint.
TROVER SAVES THE UNIVERSE
Like some games on this list, Trover Saves the Universe was not released in 2020 (although it was released this year for the Oculus Quest). Developed by Squanch Games, this game is one of the goofy titles available on VR headsets. And if you’re a fan of Rick and Morty, you’ll be in for a surprise with this game – in fact, it was created by Justin Roiland, one of the co-creators of that series.
REAL VR FISHING
There is no doubt that fishing is a very popular activity / sport in summer, but what about winter? There is something good about holding your line with a cold drink in your hand while in the water, and the challenge and patience it takes to roll a fish. Now that it is winter, I needed something to fill the void until the warm season returns again, and Pesca Real VR does not disappoint.
PIXEL RIPPED 1995
Like its predecessor, Pixel Ripped 1995 is a kind of love letter to the past decade: the 90s. It is a sequel to Pixel Ripped 1989 and will make anyone who grew up during the 16 or 32 bit era of game, feel nostalgic.
